When taking their initial steps into Torah observance, baalei teshuvah tend to receive a great deal of support and encouragement. However, once their commitment to Torah observance has been solidified, all too often the support and encouragement dwindles. As baalei teshuvah are frequently disconnected (to one degree or another) from family and friends, and often lack the support systems and socioeconomic resources that are taken for granted by the "Frum From Birth" (FFB) world, the need for follow-up becomes of quintessential importance. As such, many baalei teshuvah live isolated lives without anybody to lend a hand or to give a listening ear. This is the reason there is a dire need, well past its time, to have an organization whose sole purpose is to lend a helping hand to baalei teshuvah, and encourage other organizations to do likewise . In a nutshell, Yad L'Shuv is all about follow-up after the return.
Yad L'Shuv provides Friendship, Empowerment, and Advocacy to baalei teshuvah. After having taken the initial steps into Torah observance, there are often unforeseen hardships that begin to emerge. We help baalei teshuvah integrate and thrive in the Torah observant world.
“I think Yad L’Shuv is a very special organization that fills a really important need. I feel very privileged to be part of this initiative.”
